hello,

Recently, i bought a DSP Development kit STRATIX II PROFESSIONAL EDITION.

The FPGA is a Stratix II EP2S180F1020C3 device and I use quartus II web edition 8.0. However i get a error message when i compile my program which is :

Error: Current license file does not support the EP2S180F1020C3 device

My program is correct because it is very simple and i can compile with a other NIOS DEVELOPMENT KIT stratix edition card

I need your help because i don't know how to do for to resolve this problem.

Thank you

Well, i guess the message says it all.

There's a problem with your license file.

It's best to contact your local Altera Support.

I have that Board too, only with a

EP2S60F1020C4ES device.

I noticed no problems with mine.

Thanks for your informations.

But I think that it's not a probem with the licence of Quartus II because I use
  • quartus 4.2 web edition => license required

  • quartus 8.0 web edition => license required
but
  • quartus 9.1 pack sp2 web edtion => license not required
and the problem is the same. When i want to create a new project, i must choose a device family and then an available devices, but next to FPGA EP2S180F xxxx is marked "not installed" (this messages is the same for each version of quartus).

Can you tell me, if you use a web edition or a professional edition ?

Thanks

I use a full license with a software guard (which is not needed anymore i think, i have to try that later) on parallel port.

Anyway, look here http://www.altera.com/literature/po/ss_quartussevswe.pdf

for supported devices with your Web-Edition.

I would recommend at least to try the 30 day subscription edition

you will need a full version of Quartus. you can download a license for your dev kit here:

https://mysupport.altera.com/lic/devkitnic.asp?product=stratix2

or search the Altera website for dev kit licensing (SII DSP is in the non-RoHS Legacy section).

well,

I've installed the quartus Subscription Edition (v9.1) (with includes 30 day free trial) (so, for this moment without license) then i've tried with two KIT ALTERA :

  1. Nios Development Kit STRATIX EDITION ( EP1S10F780C6 )

  2. DSP Development Kit STRATIX II PROFESSIONAL EDITION (normally FPGA is EP2S180F1020C3 )
The first Kit Altera working correctly but with the DSP Kit, i always the same message during the compilation,

Error: Current license file does not support the EP2S180F1020C3 device

However, when i choose my device family the message "not installed" has disapear.

Someone have an idea ?

Thanks

hello,

Indeed the solution is to obtain a full license for DSP kit.

For this it is necessary to have the NIC ID but also the serial number of the DSP kit.

Best regards
