Multiprocessor ModelSim Simulation

I am trying to simulate a multiprocessor system using Altera ModelSim. I know that using the Nios II IDE, you can create a multiprocessor collection and run it on hardware, but is it possible to do the same thing and simulate it? I need to have two different pieces of software running on the two processors in the system, and then simulate them at the same time. If this is possible, is there a document that would explain how?
