Hello,

My quarts ver 13.0sp1 is not generating .sof for Cyclone 5 5cSEMA.

What can be the reason for that ??

Is there any error during synthesis, fitting or Assembler?

Assuming compilation does complete successfully there should be a reference to the sof generation in the compilation trace. I appreciate the device you're using should be included in the version of Quartus you're using but typically, if you aren't licensed for a particular family, the trace will explicitly state it's skipping sof generation.

Can you specify exactly which device you're using? Is the Quartus build 232?

Cheers,

Alex

I am using DE1-SoC board (cyclone 5cSEMA5F31C6) and yes it is build 232. I have this device selected as the target device for my project. So if I can get an option to select it as target device I assume this ver of quartus should support this device. I am using web edition, but I am getting .sof for cycloneII devices.

Whats actually compilation trace? Where can I see that?

And how can I found whether I have support for this particular device family or not?

Thanks

When choosing the device (under 'Assignments' -> 'Device...') that particular device is labelled '(Advanced)'. So, it will not generate a .sof when compiling

As for the 'trace' I referred to - messages appear in the 'Processing' tab (in Quartus) as it's compiling. I thought (for the 'Advanced' devices) it told you it wasn't going to generate a sof. However, having just tried it with 13.0sp1 web edition and your device, it doesn't.

So, I suggest you update your software. Version 13.1 and newer support that device.

Alex

Thanks Alex.

I also tried installing Q13.1 version (web edition) but it asks me for 30 day evaluation which is unlike the other Quartus version which are feature limited not time limited. Isn't their any web edition for Q13.1 which is not time limited??

PFA for the message window from Quartus 13.1.

Any suggestion on this issue.

this is not the web edition you installed.

This should be the right link:
