i've seen a lot of threads about installation problems with Ubuntu. i normally recommend using a supported distro like CentOS or even some of the older Fedora releases which i have had success with
anyhow i came across a situation where i needed to run Quartus on Ubuntu and it installed and ran without a hitch. i used the small web based installer from http://software.altera.com. i was pleasantly surprised at this after reading other people's experiences i don't intend to use a USB Blaster on this machine so i'm hoping i'm home free anyhow, :DLink Copied

Ubuntu won't be officially supported until Quartus II 12.0.
