I'm getting 10-15% slower clock rates on Quartus 14.1 then I do with Quartus 13.1.4. I've been playing with switches for weeks but I haven't been able to get close to the performance of 13.1.4. Is anyone seeing this/ Have you figured out any tricks to get the performance up?
My suspicion is that they completely rewrote the synthesis engine and perhaps the fitter also. When I tried the original 14.0 release it couldn't handle some very basic Verilog 95 code, code that has worked though many versions of Quartus as well as all of brand X's tools.Link Copied

Have you installed the build 190 update? I noticed it with the first 14.1, build 186. The compile time for and SOC compile varied from 15 to 25 minutes with only minor changes to my code. After installing the update the compile time is 14-15 minutes. Compile time of my old projects seem to be in line with older versions of Quartus.
Hope this helps.
