Quartus II Web Edition, No .sof file

I'm following a tutorial for setting up the Nios II on a DE2-70 kit.

I can't remember where I found the tutorial but if it helps to answer my question I'll post it.

Anyway, after I finished the Analysis/Synthesis with no errors I went to Tools>Programming. At this point the tutorial says a .sof file should appear in the list or it should be in your project root somewhere.

But there's no such file anywhere. Looking around the forums, some suggested it could be a licensing issue. So I went ahead and go a web edition license file that was emailed to me. But I have the same problem.

Now when I'm in the Tools>License Setup window the "Current License"'s Expiration Date shows up as 2011.11 even though I'm using a license that was emailed to me less than an hour ago...

Does anyone know how to solve this?

What version is Quartus II? Is it web version or full version?

you don't get a .sof after Analysis+Synthesis, you need to run a full compilation that includes the Assembler stage

the latest Web Edition doesn't require a license - use it
