Quartus doesn't see USB blaster in Programmer

Hi,

Well, I've read (almost) every post concerning my problem but haven't found any solution.

I have a DE1 board, which is brand new. I connected it to my Vista 64 system. The PC recognise the USB ALTERA BLASTER (after I have installed it as an undigitally signed driver), so far so good.

But, as I open the Quartus 7.2 SP2 programmer, I can't see USB blaster, only Ethernet Blaster and Master Blaster.

I tried to connect my DE1 board to XP computer, I couldn't intall the USB Blaster at all!

It says something like: windows cannot find the correct driver (even if I pointed out exactly to the Driver folder in quartus) and it tried to install it as a USB<->serial driver.

Help...!

Hi,

why are you using the old version of Quartus ? As far as I know there was a problem with the USB driver for Vista 64 bit in older version. Can try an update to 9.0 Sp2 ? I works fine on my Vista System.

Kind regards

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I have a few questions…

1. Do you have Vista 64? DE1?

2. after you insert the DE1 to the PC (thru USB), do you see the USB Blaster option in the quartus programmer?

3. I got with the DE1 a Quartus web edition. Did you tried that with your DE1?

On the dvd of the I got it says Altera Complete Design Suite, version 7.2 for windows… So I guess it should work with 7.2….

I do not have Quartus 9.0 anyway…

Thanks!

Yes I'm using Vista 64, but not a DE1 board. As far as I know there were a lot of problems with the USB driver and Vista 64. Try the version of Quartus 7.2 SP3 . This driver should run on Vista 64bit. You can download the Quartus Version from the Altera Homepage:

Home > Support > Design Software > Download > Quartus II Subscription Edition Download v7.2 & Service Pack 3

Kind regards
