USB Blaster won't program via MV interface?

I can program the old UP-2 (ByteBlaster II) within WIN7 and a USB Blaster but can't program a (EPM7064SLC44) via a simple MV hardware buffer (HC244) interface??

Is the USB Blaster NOT ByteBlasterMV compatible???

The only reason I'm changing to the USB Blaster is because you can't program MAX devices using ByteBlaster II or MV within WIN7!

Thanks in advance,

What do you exactly mean with programming by USB Blaster through MV interface?

Hi, it's a simple EPM7064SLC board with a HC244 buffer interface that can be programmed with a ByteBlaster MV cable. The USB Blaster can't program it. Although I can program a UP-2 with the USB Blaster which is compatible with a ByteBlaster II cable.

So I guess the question is... how do I make the USB Blaster program a MAX 7000S device via an MV buffer (HC244) hardware configuration?

Thanks,

There's apparently a fault in your hardware design. You should show a schematic. Why did you place the HC244 buffer at all? Regularly, USB Blaster would connect to the MAX7000S JTAG pins directly.

Hi, thanks for your response. No schematic although, I did some reverse engineering yesterday to find out that the interface is not a true JTAG interface even though the connector on the CPLD board is a JTAG connector. The board and the (special) parallel cable have to be used together to program the device. I'll have to modify the boards to program via USB Blaster. I'm a little worried about connecting directly to CPLD JTAG pins because all interfaces I've seen include a buffer in between?
