Is there a way for me to modify the Quartus license file outside of Quartus. Is there a text file I can edit that stores the location of the license files? I am running Quartus pointing to a license server that is across the ocean. As a result, anytime I need to modify the license file setting under "Tools"->"License Setup...", it is very painful as it reads the license file. It would be much handier if I could perform the edits outside of Quartus and reload? Is there a way to do this?

Hi,

isn't the license file the *.dat the license server loads on startup? As far as I remember (while its long time ago I had a licensed version - normally using the WebEdition for Cyclone designs) there was a license server that could be used to modify the path the license file is located at. The license file itself was readable (ASCII) and thus editable with any editor while not including any path informations...

Depending on the search results on Altera.com there is still the lmtool used...

I was looking for a way to update what license file Quartus looks at without going into the gui. It turns out that it is possible to do this by editing the quartus2.ini file.
