Hi Rizwan,

possible causes:

1) check the assembler is not disabled in your quartus settings.

2) check your license is seen by quartus and not out of date and that it applies to your device.

3) The last thing I can think of is bad luck.

hi kaz!

i have received license file 4 days back. it is not expire.

But when i start quartus II following messages appear in a window

"Run quartus II"

"perform automatic web license retrieval"

"specify valid license file"

I think quartus II is not picking license file, although i have already set path to license file in "quartus set up license".

I assume that you chose last option below:

"Run quartus II"

"perform automatic web license retrieval"

"specify valid license file"

The licence setup window should show what features you are licensed.

additionally it displays your C drive serial number or network IF card number.

These should match those on the license.

I am not a licence expert but may be your host ID is set as NIC number(network IF number) rather than your C drive. yet you don't seem to have NIC number.

Do you actually get some megfunctions listed under vendor in the licence window?

Hi

you mean "network interface card number" by network IF number or something else?

In "current license" window I have the following information:

License Type full Version(EvalEvalEval)

Expiration 04-jun-2011

Host ID Type Not Found

Host ID Value Not Found

What i should do know ?

Thanks

Under Vendor there is no megacore function list in license window.

Obviously your license is there but the host ID is not known.

You should have entered your C drive ID when you applied to altera for license. email to altera to see if they can issue a replacement license.

So you got NIC, it is read by the tool, yet it says no host ID found. I am really stuck here. I hope some licence Guru will come up with some ideas

licence technology needs some number from your system to identify you. This number is then fixed and encrypted in the licence file.

option1 : C drive serial number. fixes licence to your PC only. if you change drive or pc, it will not work.

option2: NIC, netwrok IF card serial number: fixes it to your PC.

option3: software guard. a small piece of hardware with secret number from vendoe and attached to your parallel port or USB. good if you change PC.

option4: floating licences stored on network servers.

When you apply for licence, it asks for your ID number. It looks like you were asked about NIC. It should be ok. But I don't understand why the NIC is displayed but not sen by licence.

yes it is something amazing!

Further i want to add something more to your knowledge that in assembler compilation report it is displayed in the messages window:

"unable to generate programming files as Quartus II is working in Evaluation mode"

Thank you
