I want to communicate my MCVEVP SoC cyclone v FPGA with host PC. So i am using JTAG USB BLASTER cable to establish communication. I am getting the error "Error when scanning hardware - Server error" when i run jtagconfig in my command prompt. I am able to find altera usb-blaster listed in my device manager. I tried to update drivers, uninstall and install them again, reinstall quartus prime, checked all the connections, nothing seems to be working. could anybody please help me with this?

Hi @Vinit_Khadakabhavi

Can you confirm the OS and Quartus edition you are using?

Have you tried using a different blaster cable?

Is that the only error that it shows or is there any other messages that the terminal shows?

Also, please see the following link and let me know if it helps your issue https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/docs/programmable/683076/current/troubleshooting-procedure-for-error.html

Hello, Thanks for the reply. I am using Windows 11 and Quartus Prime Lite 24.1 version. I tried with version 18.1 as well.

I haven't tried using a different blaster cable yet. Currently, I am using Altera USB Blaster Rev. C.

Yes, that is the only error the terminal shows.

Is there any way to resolve this? I have to try with new blaster ?

Hi @Vinit_Khadakabhavi

- Do you have multiple download cables connected to your computer?

- Have you looked in Event Viewer to check if the driver shows any errors?

- Does the ACT light from the USB blaster cable has a constant or intermittent shining?

- If possible, can you try using the current USB Blaster on another PC and another working board?

No there are no multiple download cables.

i have tried on different PC as well, still the same error.

The usb blaster has only power light lit up, there no light on ACT. Is it the problem?

Could you please follow the troubleshoot guide I previously shared? A.1. Windows Troubleshooting Procedure for Intel® FPGA Download Cable

The USB blaster should only have one LED, which is the activity LED. If the light is blinking and you are not programming anything, it could mean that the cable is faulty. If the light doesn't blink but it is on, it's fine.

If the steps from the troubleshoot guide do not work can you share the following tests?:

- Can you try running jtagconfig in a NIOS command prompt window?

- Did you see any errors from the USB driver in the Windows Event Viewer app?
