Why qse driver init failed on arria10 when use ramfs to startup

Why qse driver init failed on arria10 when use ramfs to startup, while it can successfully boot when use nandroot with same rootfs.

I met a problem with ARRIA10 SOC, please help.

Hardware : Altera SOCFPGA Arria10

model name : ARMv7 Processor rev 1 (v7l)

linux kernel tag: ACDS21.1_REL_GSRD_PR

linux kernel version: 5.4.94

First of all, we use nandroot to startup, write rootfs on nand flash followed the steps described in Arria_10_SoC_45_Boot_from_NAND, the system startup successfully, and the qse driver runs OK.

While we found some running efficiency issues on nandroot , so build the rootfs in the kernel to try ramfs.

operations in uboot such as

1. load the new kernel, tftpboot 0x2100000 kernel.itb

2. setenv bootargs console=ttyS0,115200 rdinit=/sbin/init

3. bootm 0x2100000

but the system startup failed when qse driver init. panic occured at qse_get_stats64.

it seems like qse's mac space ff220000 cannot read/write through axi interface although it already was ioremaped in probe.

if I remove the qse driver when build kernel, system can startup successfully.

I think the ramfs change only influence after driver init, so I can't figure why the qse driver init failed with ramfs startup.

Hi,

 

What is the version of Uboot that you are using?

 

Are you using EMAC0 or EMAC1? Is the EMAC working in Uboot before the hang in Kernel?
