Failed to enable unit: Unit file aesmd.service does not exist.

Hello Intel Community,

I am facing an issue while trying to install the sgx-aesm-service on a freshly created virtual machine (VM). During the installation process, I encountered the following error:

Failed to enable unit: Unit file aesmd.service does not exist.

Despite multiple attempts to install the package, this error persists, and it seems that the aesmd.service unit file is either missing or not being created during the installation.

The error occurs even on a clean VM setup, suggesting that there may be an issue with the package itself or a missing configuration in the installation process.

Could someone help me identify the root cause of this issue? Is there a step or configuration missing that could be leading to this problem?

System Details:

  • OS: debian 12
  • Kernal: 6.1.12
  • Intel SGX SDK Version: 2.25

Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.
