QUOTE signature

Is there a reason for the EPID signature in a QUOTE being encrypted? Apparently the Quoting Enclave encrypts the signature with a random AES key which in turn is encrypted by some RSA key. Would leaving the signature unencrypted leak some sensitive information? If not, what is the rationale for encrypting the signature?

EPID signature in the quote needs to be transferred in untrusted environment. So it has to be encrypted.
