Hi Sam,

SGX Support Desktop, Laptop and Server like workstation.

I will ensure that the Z240 has one of these supported chipsets. SGX was enabled on Z240 with BIOS 1.07. This was the first Refresh BIOS in January 2016.”

  • Intel Xeon E3-1225v5 3.3 GHz (up to 3.7 GHz) 8MB GT2 4C 80W TWR CPU
  • Intel Xeon E3-1230v5 3.4 GHz (up to 3.8 GHz) 8MB GT0 4C 80W TWR CPU
  • Intel Xeon E3-1240v5 3.5 GHz (up to 3.9 GHz) 8MB GT0 4C 80W TWR CPU
  • Intel Xeon E3-1245v5 3.5 GHz (up to 3.9 GHz) 8MB GT2 4C 80W TWR CPU
  • Intel Xeon E3-1270v5 3.6 GHz (up to 4.0 GHz) 8MB GT0 4C 80W TWR CPU
  • Intel Xeon E3-1280v5 3.7 GHz (up to 4.0 GHz) 8MB GT0 4C 80W TWR CPU

Hi Surenthar,

We tried installing Intel SGX on out new NUC i76700U machine but failed.

We are planning to procure another NUC machine.

We need the hardware and software specifications so that it will be possible to install Intel SGX.

Can you please suggest especially which processor should we take for installing.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi Surenthar,

Do these machines ( NUC6I5SYH/ NUC6I5SYK/ NUC6I3SYH/ NUC6I3SYH) come with a BIOS that supports SGX?

Do they support SGX 2?

Can BIOS update upgrade an existing system with SGX 1 to support SGX 2?

Thanks!

Hi,

Do these machines ( NUC6I5SYH/ NUC6I5SYK/ NUC6I3SYH/ NUC6I3SYH) come with a BIOS that supports SGX?

Yes, The Intel SGX driver is required if SGX security is enabled in BIOS. Download the Driver from link "https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26137/Intel-Software-Guard-Extensions-Software-for-Intel-N..."

Do they support SGX 2?

No. Currently it support SGX version 1

Can BIOS update upgrade an existing system with SGX 1 to support SGX 2?

Currently SGX version 1 is available to use.  will let you know when there is update on SGX version 2

Hi Surenthar, I found the SGX Driver from the given link ("https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/26137/Intel-Software-Guard-Extensions-Software-for-Intel-N...") is only for Windows. Is there Linux version for NUC6I5SYH/ NUC6I5SYK/ NUC6I3SYH/ NUC6I3SYK? If not, can I use the driver from link "https://github.com/01org/linux-sgx-driver"?

SGX driver is OEM independent, so yes you should be able to use the one on Github for any SGX supported system. Only requirement in Linux is that you will need to use Ubuntu 14.04 LTS for OS. Hope that helps.
