Hi,
I forgot my BMC user password for an S2600WT mainboard.
The BIOS states the Policy Control Mode is currently set to "RESTRICTED". "
There seems to be no jumper in the mainboard that would clear the BMC users. And when I go into the BIOS everything under user configuration is greyed out.
Pressing F9 to reset to default, did not work. I also tried the jumper settings for BIOS defaults and the Password Reset jumper, but it did not clear the BMC Lan configuration or the BMC user password.
Is there a way I can reset the BMC user to defaults?
I noticed in another 2 posts from 'forgot BMC password for S2600STB" Fikri_Intel posted a solution with the cmdtool download. Will this work on this board.
The other option is to use IPMI tool, but Intel does not offer the tool for UEFI shell based download.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Dear Simon:
Thank you for the reply.
The information you provided does not work as all of this information is greyed out. I mentioned in my orginal post above. This would have been great had the IPMI security policy not been set to RESTRICTED.
There was a previous post regarding this issue: under forgot BMC password for S2600STB.
The recommendation was to reset the BMC using the cmdtool as mentioned by Fikri_Intel.
Please refer to the post: Solved: Re:forgot BMC password for S2600ST - Intel Community
I am facing the same issue as André in that post.
The Intel server board is S2600WTTR.
Thank you.

Hello ma57,
Thank you for your response. To your question whether the solution that was provided for the board S2600ST will work here, the answer is it Should. We have compared the Technical Product Specification for both boards (which is available in public), both boards have the same jumper. Please try to follow the steps once and let us know if it help.

Dear Subhashish:
Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, I cannot do so as Fikri_Intel provided a cmdtool download in the other posting. Without that tool, I cannot do the reset using the jumper as it requires other configuration inputs to clear the IPMI Security to All from Restricted.
Please refer to the post: Solved: Re:forgot BMC password for S2600ST - Intel Community wherein Fikri_Intel provided a cmdtool zip file download.
Thank you.

Dear Simon:
Thank you for your email reply. I am really surprised with your replies as it seems that you did not read my original post all the way through. Your colleague was able to provide the missing information from a previous post from last year that had the solution to it, only thing missing was the ability to retrieve the downloadable file.
While you mentioned the product is EOL, and to look at the recommendations and solutions from the Intel community forums - which did and noticed that a solution was provided to the same issue in September 2024, but the file was not available for download.
It was a simple request to have the downloadable file, which was provided by your colleague Subhashish in the post above. The file resolved the issue in less than 5 minutes.
You also stated to look at the discontinued product website, which was done.
As for looking at the new products offered by Intel, please note that Intel has sold many product lines over the years such as the NUCs, RAID controller cards, etc... and has not had any new servers or server boards for quite a few years.
The legacy servers are something that Intel should be proud of as they were built very robustly and were considered the industry standard for decades. Unfortunately, the state of current Intel and its offerings are not what it used to be.
Hope that you can understand the pride that your customers took in Intel products and to get this kind of support from you is very disheartening.
Thank you.
Regards,
Srini
