Intel R2208WF and Intel SSD AIC

I have a client that has an Intel R2208WF with 2x Gold Xeons and all blue RAM slots occupied. All RAM is the same.
My intention is to install an Intel P3700 SSD AIC and use it as the boot drive (c), does it matter where this add in card is installed?

Thanks

Hello RSump1,

Thank you for your response. Regarding your query, I would like to inform you that PCIe SSD AIC FF devices are only supported in the bottom add-in card slot on Riser Slot #1 and Riser Slot #2. For more details, please refer to the Thermal Configuration Table Notes on page 138 of the TPS.

Best regards,

Hi RSump1,

Thank you for contacting Intel.

We appreciate you reaching out to us regarding the reported issue. For information regarding compatible Add-In Card (AIC) form factors and appropriate slot placement, we kindly recommend referring to the Intel® Server System R2000WF Product Family Technical Product Specification (TPS). This document outlines supported configurations and physical slot details.

You may access the TPS via the following link:

Please let us know if you need further concerns.

There’s absolutely nothing in the TPS concerning where an SSD AIC should be installed. I’ll take my chances, install a card in one of the slots, and let it sit running for a few days before it returns to production.
