2 PCs on hand:
1) Lenovo ThinkStation P720 (type 30BB) - Dual Xeon Gold 6148
2) Lenovo ThinkStation P520 (type30BF) - Single Xeon W-2125
Lenovo OEM listing:
VROCSTANMOD 1722 (Black)
VROCISSDMOD 1738 (Green)
...I understand that "ISSDMOD" is exclusively for select Intel NVMe SSDs...
or, is there a current list of compatible NVME SSDs?
what is the difference between:
STANMOD 1722 (black) vs. STANMOD 2337 (Black)
likewise,
ISSDMOD 1387 (Green) vs. ISSDMOD 2143 (Green)
thank you for any useful information,
John
Footnote:
ThinkStation P720, BIOS: S04KT76A (1/16/2025);
7.5.11.1002 SATA Driver (VROC)
RAID 10 Successfully created with STANMOD 2337 - 4x 2T Samsung EVO 870 SATA SSD

Thank you,
Through trial and error, I have come to understand the general concept.
However,
The Samsung model numbers Intel has listed do not conform with common searches for Samsung product.
Samsung: (assuming chronological order?)
SM961 - Intel VROC 5.0
PM961 -
SM951 - Intel VROC 5.1
PM953 -
PM963 - Intel VROC 5.4
PM983 - Intel VROC 5.6
PM9A3 - Intel VROC 6.3 - (Samsung EVO990PRO)
PM1733 - Intel VROC 7.5 - (what is the Samsung PM1733 sold/marketed as?)
...Intel VROC 7.8 - 8,5
10 minutes of chasing down rabbit holes with Samsung AI assistant inadvertently "connected" "PM9A3" as "EVO 990PRO"
(when queried by AI: "which do you want to buy?
I responded with with "PM9A3",
AI responded: "I'm sorry, EVO 990PRO is no longer in stock")... AHA!!
Previous searches for preceding models (i.e. SM961 through PM983) rendered no results.
Furthermore, as both P520 and P720 BIOS indicate Intel SATA Driver as: 7.5.11.1002;
I assume that later Intel SATA Drivers (i.e. subsequent to VROC 7.5... VROC 7.8, 8.0, 8.5) is necessary for Subsequent Samsung models (i.e. PM1733a, PM1743, PM9D3)
Also, IFAIK, "SM"' models (vs. "PM") are oriented to "industrial grade" use, vs. "consumer'".
As everything stands, the P520 has an ASUS "quad HBA" installed (with 4@ Corsair E100 1T NVMe); Windows "sees" these drives...
BIOS VROC setup does not (i.e. Corsair/Micron E100 not compatible).
I am waiting for delivery of a fourth Samsung 2T EVO990PRO; I will Install, setup, and hope for the best.
Again, thank you for your time,
regards,
John
