VROCSTANMOD iterations

Of the list of VROCSTANMOD (all black label);

What is the difference between these?  (i.e. why different numbers)

Also, do all of these support non-intel NVMe Drives?

 I am also using a ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen4 Card (aka "quad" HBA)

P720: 4 x Samsung 990PRO 2TB NVMe

P520: 4x Samsung 990EVO Plus 1TB NVMe

I purchased the 2337 key for my Lenovo Thinkstation P720 and is installed

Also, I purchased/installed 1721 in my Lenoo ThinkStation P520

For both machines, BIOS setup allows creation of the "VMD" volumes, Windows 11 does do "see" the drive.

Likewise, For both machines, VROC SATA RAID volume was created with SATA SSDs and functions as expected.

Lenovo parts distributor in Germany.

Both Machines: Intel(R)  7.5.11.1002 Driver

ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 gen4 Card (aka "quad" HBA)

Lenovo Thinkstation P720(Xeon Platinum 8160): VROCSTANMOD 2337 installed; 4x Samsung 990PRO 2TB NVMe

Lenovo ThinkStation P520 (Xeon W-2129): VROCSTANMOD 1721 Installed; 4x Samsung 990EVO Plus 1TB NVMe

 

hould VROC VMD RAID function with these VROC keys?

BIOS Setup shows VMD RAID Created; 

HOWEVER, Windows 11PRO does not "see" these.

 

My primary goal is to define that these NVMe drives are compatible with the intended VROC VMD RAID.

Why Windows does not "see" this as a drive (similar to SATA SSD RAID)

Please do not simply copy paste a another link to another web page; I do not speak the same intel jargon that you may.

Thank you for your response. Please note that the different numbers are for manufacturing record purposes only and do not affect functionality. There is no specific information available regarding any differences, as this depends on the respective manufacturers.


Regarding support for non-Intel NVMe drives, kindly contact the OEM (Lenovo) for further assistance.

Lenovo ThinkStation P720: CPU: Intel XEON Platinum 8160, VROCSTANMOD 2337 (black) 2337 key installed

Lenovo ThinkStation P520: CPU: Intel Xeon W-2129, VROCSTANMOD 1721 (black) Key Installed

HBA: Both Have ASUS HYPER M.2 x16 Gen4 cards;

P520: 4x Samsung 990EVO plus 1TB NVme

P720: 4x Samsung 990PRO 2TB NVMe

BIOS, Intel VROC setup virtually identical

P720 VROC "VMD" RAID10 created in BIOS: RAID volume appears as drive in wndows11 PRO

P520 VROC "VMD" RAID10 Created in BIOS: RAID Volume DOES NOT APPEAR in Windows11 PRO

 

??Why does this work with P720, but not P520?

All machines operating with Window11 Pro (25H2)

 

Lenovo Support Forum has reported that VROCSTANMOD "is not compatible with Non-intel NVMe drives";

Evidently, That statement is in error;

...with fully-functioning RAID10 with Samsung 990PRO 2TB NVme drives and P720 VROCSTANMOD 2337.

fwiw,

P720 Chipset: C621

P520 Chipset: C422

 

I have gone through both BIOS setups with both machines side-by-side;

both setups are essentially identical

 

2337 key vs. 1721 Key??
