tbb for OSS in vmware fusion?

Has anyone tried to build TBB for open source in vmware fusion? I've got an Ubuntu image I'm using, and it seems to be hung on the "test_malloc_compliance" step, right after a bunch of other stuff compiles. The process has about 700MB of system memory allocated, but it's only using 2-3% of the CPU time.

Looks like it's working, but slowly...very slowly. I'm observing something like a 10x slowdown in the emulated environment, which might have to do with the way memory is managed in Fusion? (Not sure.)

I'll post an update if all the tests pass.
