About uninstalling agent files

Hello,

I have a question about agent terminals.

Suppose we have an IntelEMA server A and an agent terminal A under its control.
If agent terminal A uninstalls the agent file, is there any way for IntelEMA server A to clearly see that agent terminal A has uninstalled it?

Looking forward to your response.

Hello Hideo,

Greeting from Intel!

Hope you are doing well,

Once the agent files are deleted or unprovisioned, the EMA server will not be able to see the endpoints. The EMA server will be able to detect that the agent files have been deleted.

Could you please let us know why you are trying to uninstall the agent files

Hello,

Pujeeth_Intel

Thanks for the reply.

>Once the agent files are deleted or unprovisioned, the EMA server will not be able to see the endpoints. The EMA server will be able to >detect that the agent files have been deleted.

I received the above and the answer. However, even after the agent file was deleted, the terminal from which the agent file was deleted was not removed from the list of endpoints on the EMA server.

Does this mean that if time passes, it will be automatically removed from the list of endpoints on the EMA server?

We look forward to your reply.

Hello Hideo,

Greeting from Intel!

Hope you are doing well,

The EMA server can detect that agent files have been deleted, it does not necessarily mean that the endpoint will be removed immediately. It is likely that after some time without reconnection, it will be automatically removed from the list of endpoints on the EMA server.

As mentioned above, am I correct in understanding that it is only the uninstalled device that is removed from the list of endpoints on the EMA server?

Am I correct in assuming that if for some reason (power is off, etc.) there is no connection from the endpoint to the IntelEMA server, it will not be removed from the list in the same way?

If uninstalled endpoints are automatically removed from the list of endpoints on the EMA server depending on the duration of the connection, is there a specific period of time before automatic removal? If they are auto-deleted after a period of unconnected time, is it possible to specify the period of unconnected time before auto-deletion?

We look forward to your reply.

Hello Hideo,

Thank you for reaching out.

Please note that even after uninstalling the Intel® EMA agent file and running the unconfigure script (ECT), the endpoint will remain listed in the Intel EMA console. This is because the endpoint information persists in the EMA database.

To completely remove the endpoint, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Intel EMA console.
  2. Select the endpoint in question.
  3. From the Actions menu, choose the option Stop Managing Endpoint.

This action will erase the endpoint from the database.

Let me know if you have any further questions or need additional assistance.

Hello,

Suneesh

Thank you for your reply.

I am aware that the difference between the following two endpoint statuses cannot be determined from the list of endpoints in the management console, is that correct?

・The agent terminal has been uninstalled

・The agent terminal cannot connect to the Intel® EMA server for some reason (e.g. power off).

We look forward to your reply.

Hello Hideo,

Good day!

Once the agent files are uninstalled from the terminal, you will no longer be able to connect to the agent from the EMA server or perform any actions. However, it will still appear in the endpoint agents list.

Hello,

Suneesh

Thank you for your response. I will change my question.

Is there any difference in the way the list of endpoints looks in the management console view of the EMA server in the following two cases?

Case 1:
When the EMA agent file is uninstalled in the terminal.

Case 2:
The agent terminal cannot connect to the Intel EMA server for some reason (power off, communication breakdown, etc.).

We look forward to your reply.

Hi Hideo,

Good day.

Please find the details below:

Case 1:

When the EMA agent file is uninstalled from the terminal:

- There is no noticeable difference.

Case 2:

When the agent terminal cannot connect to the Intel EMA server (e.g., due to power off, communication breakdown, etc.):

- Differences can be observed in the Endpoint list, particularly after Un provisioning an endpoint or when the ethernet connection is lost.

Please focus on the **Connection** and **AMT Status** tabs for more details.

Kindly refer to the attached image for clarification.

Hello,

Great question! If agent terminal A uninstalls the agent file, IntelEMA server A can usually detect this through heartbeat checks, status reports, or by maintaining an inventory of connected agents. If the server stops receiving signals or status updates from terminal A, it will recognize that the agent is no longer installed.
