I have D5400XS board with E5420 spec SLBBL CPU.

In latest BIOS missing menu for enabling VT and Speedstep.

Please add support for this CPU to next BIOS update.

Hi there,

I was checking information for this motherboard D5400XS. Actually, i found out that in the bios version V1140, this has been fixed from the release notes.

Website: http://downloadmirror.intel.com/17198/eng/XS_1175_ReleaseNotes.pdf http://downloadmirror.intel.com/17198/eng/XS_1175_ReleaseNotes.pdf

• Added support for EIST.

• Added support for VT Technology.

• Added support for Intel® VT for Directed I/O (VT-d).

Note: the latest bios version is v1175.

Website: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&Inst=Yes&ProductID=2864&DwnldID=17198&strOSs=38&OSFullName=OSIndependent&lang=eng http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&Inst=Yes&ProductID=2864&DwnldID=17198&strOSs=38&OSFullName=OSIndependent&lang=eng

FYI, Intel VT is found:

Bios >> Security >> VT Technology Enabled or Disabled

And EIST is found:

Bios >> Power >> Intel EIST Enabled or Disabled

One more thing regarding your CPU E5420, it is not on the compatibility list:

Website: http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d5400xs http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=d5400xs

Only the one with SL number SLANV is on the list, not the SLBBL

Hope this may help you.

Kind Regards,

Aryan.

Hi Aryan -

I don't know if you can actually help me here, but I don't have any VT functions displaying in my D5400XS BIOS. I have upgraded to the latest version (XS54010J.86A.1175.2008.1121.1010) and am running units that definitely support virtualization (Harpertown) but I see nothing noted below under Security.

Any additional assistance you can provide would be helpful.

Regards,

Brent

Hi there,

Apologies for the delay.

If you have the latest bios and you have checked whether the cpu that you are using supports VT, then everything must be fine.

As a test, you can test the cpu on another board that supports VT to be sure whether the CPU supports VT.

CPU Details: http://ark.intel.com http://ark.intel.com

All the best,

Regards,

Aryan

I am having the exact same problem. I thought I had found the answer when I found that it was added in a later BIOS but I still have no VT options in the BIOS after updating it. I too have SLBBP specs.

Same problem ! ( D5400XS et 2x E5410 SLBBC / SLANW are Retired & Discontinued : http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=33080 http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=33080 )

Do you receive a fix or change your Mother Board ( BAD Intel # GOOD ASUS ) ?

One year after intel release E0 step E5420 is still unsupported and if i check any "compatible" motherboard still find 0 !

http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?ProcNbr=E5420 show only D5400XS and only SLANV model, not SLBBL.

Intel IMHO manufacturing fake unsupported cpu. This CPU is functional, but no virtualization.

If not update bios to functional state or tell me way to swap SLBBL shit for SLANV version this will be my last Intel anything.

WLKe, I've found the same problem today. WinXP has been running great, but Win7 is giving me problems due to having a SLANV and a SLBBL processor and Win7. I can use the Virtualisation with either cpu on my board (ASUS) but I cant run Win7 with the mismatched cpu's. I'm looking for a swap of one of the CPU's too!

Hi WLKe, I've got an ASUS board which supports SLBBL stepping, but I have two mismatched cpu.s (SLANV and SLBBL). I'ts been running fine under XP, but now I've tried to install Win7 I get the STOP error "multiprocessor_configuration_not_supported". I need to swap either my SLANV or my SLBBL.

I have upgraded to the latest version (1353). I can't found VT options. I have two CPUs X5472 Revision E0.

How can I Enabled VT Technology?

My english isn't good, so I'm writing with dictionary.
