Hello Aungoo,

Greetings!!

Please find the below details on the appropriate alternative port and configuring Intel EMA -

Alternative Ports:

  1. Port 80 (HTTP): Commonly used for web traffic. If security is not a concern, port 80 can be used, but it is less secure than HTTPS.
  2. Port 443 (HTTPS): Standard port for secure web traffic. Using port 443 ensures encrypted communication, which is recommended for security.
  3. Port 8443: Often used as an alternative to port 443 for HTTPS traffic. It is less commonly used, which might reduce the risk of conflicts.
  4. Port 8888: Another alternative port for web applications. It is less commonly used, which might help avoid conflicts.
  5. Custom Ports: You can choose any custom port that fits your network configuration and security requirements, as long as it is not reserved or commonly used by other services.

Steps to Change the Port in Intel EMA:

  1. Access Configuration Settings: Log in to the Intel EMA console and navigate to the configuration settings where you can specify the port.
  2. Update Port Settings: Change the port number from 8080 to your chosen alternative port.
  3. Adjust Firewall Rules: Update firewall rules to allow traffic on the new port, ensuring that all necessary devices and services can communicate with Intel EMA.
  4. Test Connectivity: Test the setup to ensure that Intel EMA is accessible on the new port and that all functionalities work as expected.
  5. Monitor Traffic: Continuously monitor network traffic to ensure that the new port configuration does not introduce any issues.

By selecting an appropriate alternative port and configuring Intel EMA accordingly, you can optimize your network setup while maintaining security and functionality.

Hi Aungoo,

Intel EMA will always listen on port 8080 for CIRA connections from endpoints. If you want the clients to use another port to make CIRA connection, you need to install a layer 4 network load balancer in front of the Intel EMA server and use the load balancer to make the traffic back to port 8080. For example, if you want your clients to use port 12345 to make CIRA connections to Intel EMA server, you need to (1) deploy a load balancer in front of the EMA server which redirect traffic destinating port 12345 to port 8080 on the Intel EMA server, and (2) change the CIRA server port to 12345 in Intel EMA settings by logging in as global administrator.

If you have already deployed your Intel EMA server, the load balancer needs to take over the Intel EMA server FQDN, and you need to redeploy a new set of EMA agent files to your endpoints. You can refer to notes in chapter 2.1 in the Intel EMA server installation guide.

Hello Aungoo,

Greetings!!

As informed by Jimmy, the Intel EMA always listens on port 8080 for CIRA connections from the endpoints. If it is necessary for the clients or endpoints to use other ports, you may use a Layer 4 network load balancer in front of the Intel EMA server. This load balancer can receive traffic on port 8080 through alternate ports that you wish to use.

You can refer to the notes in Chapter 2.1 of the Intel EMA server installation guide.
