Intel EMA Installation error- issue connecting default database

Activity Overview:

  1. Intel EMA Installation Attempt:

   - We initiated the installation of Intel Endpoint Management Assistant (EMA) version 1.14.0.0.

 

  1. Prerequisite Validation:

   - All prerequisites for Intel EMA were validated, and no issues were found. SQL Server was correctly installed and configured on the same server.

 

  1. Error During Installation:

   - During the Intel EMA installation process, an error occurred when attempting to connect to the default database.

 

Error Details:

- Error Message: "Cannot connect to default database. The SQL connection information is probably wrong."

- Connection Details:

  - SQL Server and Intel EMA are installed on the same server.

  - Both SQL Server Authentication and Windows Authentication were attempted, but the error persisted.

  - SQL Server instance, database existence, and authentication configurations were verified and appear to be correct.

 

Steps Taken:

  1. Verified SQL Server instance and database existence.
  2. Ensured SQL Server services are running.
  3. Tested SQL Server connectivity using SQLCMD and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
  4. Checked SQL Server authentication modes and user permissions.
  5. Reviewed firewall and network configurations.
  6. Attempted re-entering connection information during Intel EMA installation.

Thanks for sharing the details and the error screen shot.


We see that you are have installed the latest EMA version 1.14.0 where the SQL database gives and error while connecting, and also see that you have followed the prerequisites


Before we proceed, please share the environmental details asked below.


Version of the Microsfot SQL database that you are trying to configure

AMT version

Number of Endpoints,

Mode of provisioning - ACM or CCM


And also share the ECT of the Endpoint which is connected for our reference.

Installation:

Download and unzip the tool.

Double-click the .msi file and follow the prompts.

 

Run:

a-Open a command prompt as administrator (alternatively, you can run the tool from Windows PowerShell*).

b-Navigate to the installation folder (default C:\Program Files (x86)\Intel\EMAConfigTool).

c-Run the command: EMAConfigTool.exe --verbose
