How to disable Firmware Virtualization on PC. No on/off option in BIOS.

It's a Dell Inspiron laptop with an Intel Core i5-1135g7 CPU.

Each system manufacturer customizes the BIOS settings; however, the option Virtualization for Direct-IO (or VT-d) is usually available.

Please review the BIOS manual guide of your Dell Inspiron.  I am sending the steps suggested by Dell.

Dealing with the BIOS settings won't and doesn't work. What I need to know is how to forcibly disable Firmware Virtualization. Using command prompt or powershell from the desktop won't work. There has to be another way. It's very important to me to turn off Firmware Virtualization.

Dell was of no help. This isn't a computer brand specific issue. This is an Intel product and Intel should have the instructions to disable it. Would using UEFI Shell or even Notepad work? With firmware virtualization on the computer is completely unusable.

As was explained, the only place that this can be done is in the BIOS. This *must* to be done *before* the runtime environment is initialized; it cannot be done after the fact. Bottom line, the motherboard/system manufacturer is responsible for this feature within their BIOS. In this case, it is Dell's BIOS that is responsible for this functionality. If they don't provide this functionality, well, don't pick their products.

Had I known that this PC came with Intel Vt-x enabled by default with no option to enable/disable it I never would have purchased it. That's a NO BRAINER! But now I have it with this major issue that I need to fix and that is why I'm here. It is an Intel product and I need it DISABLED. Your response was the WORST response ever!

Let me be very clear: You DO NOT have an Intel product; you have a Dell product. You do not have a warranty from Intel; your warranty is exclusively from Dell. Now, it is true that the product contains Intel components and Intel - and I - will do what we can to help you with the problem. In this case, however, there is nothing that we can do; it is the BIOS that is responsible for the initialization of the platform. Once it is done, it is done; many aspects of this initialization cannot be changed at runtime (it wouldn't be a secure solution if rogue software can change it on the fly). Now, as we have said multiple times, the BIOS is Dell's and Dell is responsible for it. If it is not doing what it should, you need to be looking to them for a solution.
I am sorry that you are having this issue. My take is that, if they won't fix it, they should refund your money.

i know its a bit after the fact, but have you attempted to use Dell Command | Configure Wizard? its essentially BIOS setup from the desktop and you save the setup as a .cckv and the execute it. just thought id throw that out there
