My company is running HP DC7800 model computers. There are two different chipsets - Core2 Duo, which has the AMT 3.0 and the Core2 Vpro. We are running Microsoft Vista on our computers and VMware with both Windows 2000 and XP professional images. When running the VMware images, there is random network drop-offs. HP recommended we turn off the AMT bios. This solved the drop-off problem. They had no solution to fix the problem with the AMT bios turned on.
The computers are running an Intel 82566DM - 2 Gigabit Network Adapter. The Bios was set up the SMB.
If you can assist me fixing the problem of the random network drop-off with the AMT bios turned on, that would be appreciated.

Since your original post there have been a view updates that may resolve this issue that you can try.
First is to make sure that you have the latest AMT ME firmware applied which was posted 2/09. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3459240&prodNameId=3459243&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=vc-68791-1 http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3459240&prodNameId=3459243&swEnvOID=1093&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=vc-68791-1
Next is another possible remedy involving the NIC firmware posted 6/09. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3459242&swItem=vc-72171-1&prodNameId=3459247&swEnvOID=2098&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0 http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3459242&swItem=vc-72171-1&prodNameId=3459247&swEnvOID=2098&swLang=13&taskId=135&mode=4&idx=0
If the issue still persists there are additional fixes for similar behavior that should soon be released in future AMT FW Updates. These will be available on the HHP site as soon as they have been certified by HP so keep a watch at: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3459243&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3459240&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2096 http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3459243&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=3459240&swLang=13&taskId=135&swEnvOID=2096
