Should it be possible to connect more than 8 cameras or is that the limit?

In 2015, an early RealSense-equipped drone had six R200's attached in a 360 degree circle to a single onboard control board.

With the official RealSense SDK, you can attach multiple camera to a computer but only make one of them the active camera at a time. Librealsense, the open-source RealSense SDK, does support multi-camera capture.
