Crimp Tool for Multiple RealSense Camera synchronization connectors cost US$1,107.18??

Hello,

Is the crimp tool for the JST connector as shown at the bottom of page 2 of the document "Using the RealSense D4xx Depth Sensors in Multi-Camera Configurations" that expensive: US $1,107.18 (not a typo, just called Digikey)?

Any alternatives? It looks like a Molex connector terminal.

That price range seems to be the going rate for a crimper tool, whatever the manufacturer.

There are other cheaper options. The https://www.adafruit.com/product/350 Engineer PA-09 seems to be a popular one at about 1/20th the price.

For some reason, the AWG value of the crimper seemed to make a lot of difference to the price. For example, I saw a crimper with an AWG value other than the 28-30AWG one quoted by Feral_Reserve that was half the price of the 28-30AWG version.

Then again, I don't see how someone couldn't make do with a cheap crimper like the one you quoted, as it is not like they are loaded with special software - they are performing a mechanical action. It seems like paying a premium for a luxury hammer - it's still going to be used to hit nails
