Person tracking was introduced in Sdk r2 and is gone without mention in sdk r3.. what do I do if my application needs it? Can I stay on Ri2 and deploy apps at this sdk level?

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin,

Thank you for contacting us.

I believe you can continue to use the SDK Release 2 and keep working on your applications using this release. The fact that there's a new SDK doesn't mean that the previous versions will stop working, this shouldn't be an impediment. Anyhow, continue to work on the SDK Release 2 and let us know if you encounter any issues.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Sergio,

I wish I could but I removed the R2 SDK when the R3 became available not realising that some of the interesting algorithm modules had gone away.

1) Is there a page with downloads of old versions of the SDK (the headers and libs and not just runtimes)?

2) Is there a possibility that any of the removed algorithm modules (person tracking, blob, enhanced photography) will return?

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin,

If you wish to continue to use the SDK R2 you'd have to remove the SDK R3 and install the SDK R2 again. The SDK R2 is still available for download. You can go here https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-realsense-sdk https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-realsense-sdk . Click on FREE Download, you'll then have to enter some contact information, followed by the download option.

Regarding the removed functionality of new SDK, I checked the Release notes to see if some features, such as person tracking were removed. I didn't found such information, what I find were some known issues related to tracking. I'd suggest you to look at this link https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/new-in-realsense-r3 https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/new-in-realsense-r3 and look at the information related to person tracking.

Let us know if you find this useful.

I think I wasn't clear - I am not talking about SDK R3 released in 2015 (aka V5.0) but instead I meant SDK 2016 R3 (aka SDK version 11.0.27.1384 - from the PDF release notes

http://registrationcenter-download.intel.com/akdlm/irc_nas/9558/release_notes_RealSense_SDK_2016_R3.pdf http://registrationcenter-download.intel.com/akdlm/irc_nas/9558/release_notes_RealSense_SDK_2016_R3.pdf ).

Installing SDK 2016 R3 removes, among other things, F200 Object Tracking, R200 Camera Support & Features, Speech Recognition & Synthesis, RealSense Web Support, Java Support, Touchless Controller and Blob Tracking..

Thanks,

Martin

Hi Martin,

Thank you for clarifying this. Regarding the download page of the previous SDKs-there's not a page that has all previous SDKs available. The SDKs available are the ones that can be found in https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-realsense-sdk https://software.intel.com/en-us/intel-realsense-sdk .

Also, the features you mention are in fact removed in the SDK 2016 R3 and are only available in previous versions RealSense SDK. Face support may be released as a separate middleware in the future.
