I think that what you are wanting to do in removing the background is called 3D Segmentation.

There are sample programs for segmentation in the Sample Browser program that comes packaged with the SDK. If you have installed the RealSense SDK software, the Sample Browser application should be on your desktop in a folder called Intel RealSense SDK Gold'. You can find the segmentation samples easily by typing the word 'segmentation' into the search box of the Sample Browser application.
