I have server workstation setup for HPC. This runs Windows Server 2016.
Currently we have a SATA RAID 5 array using RSTe driver 5.3.0.1388
The RAID 5 volume is built using 3 12TB HDD
The motherboard is a Gigabyte M51-HPO-00
The CPU is a XEON Skylake W, and the PCH is an Intel C422
For the HPC workload we find that the write speeds to the RAID volume are limiting the pace of our simulations and producing a bottleneck to our workflow.
The read speeds produce a similar bottleneck when we post process our simulation results.
We have enabled the Write back cache option which did improve the speed. Ideally we would like to use a SSD as cache.
Are alternative Cache options available in the newer VROC drivers?
Can RSTe drivers be directly updated to VROC drivers on an existing RAID volume?
Attached is the RST system report.
Please advise if read/write speeds can be improved or not.
Thankyou
