I have a nuc5i7ryh it's been behaving strangely since It began working. Its OS is opensuse 15.1. Long ago it went off service strangely for two years, with apparently no reason. The intel people on twitter told me to unplug the cmos battery and it worked. But recently, after some days of working for long lapses, just sending the system to hibernate dayly for a week. And one day I unplugged it to test another pc and when I plugged it back the led light went on solid red just with the fan noise. I opened the box, unplugged everything, the hdd, ram memory and cmos battery and NOTHING... No sign of life... I tried 24 hours later and still nothing... then I gave up and passed another 48 hours and then it turned on. I suspect overheating but not sure if so. Now-a-days I only turn it up when I need it and after finishing whatever I'm doing I turned it off... The work I intended to do with this unit considered long active hours, I'm not sure if this computer it up to it. I looked all over the web for info about overheating or similar issues, but got nothing accurate.

First of all, if this NUC has been sitting on the shelf for two years, then you need to replace the CMOS battery, not just disconnect it.
Secondly, I can find no record of any LED that comes on with red color. Please take a picture of this state and include it in your response.
In all this, were you ever disconnecting the NUC's power brick from the wall? If not, try doing that.

In addition to Scott's advise above, since you are suspecting overheating, please watch this video clip.
