running testpmd with promisc mode turned off for all ports

running testpmd with promisc mode turned off for all ports

Hello, i am reading about dpdk and running some experiments. i noticed that if i run testpmd with promisc mode turned off, kept all other default setting, i can see a huge traffic on all the interfaces. i captured the flows and they look like this

12:46:07.849862 IP 0.0.0.0.68 > 255.255.255.255.67: BOOTP/DHCP, Request from 0c:42:a1:2c:d9:b2, length 300

the machine has 4 XXV710 for 25GbE SFP28 158b' drv=igb_uio

if i turned on the promisc mode this traffic will stop.

Appreciate any ideas about what would cause that?
