Arc showstopper: broken interlaced encoding

Interlaced encoding is broken on Arc.  That's a showstopper for encoding interlaced broadcast content for TV stations (1080i HD content for 1080i TV stations).

For reference the same interlaced encoding operation works on DG1, but does not work on Arc (DG2).

This regression happened before and was later fixed by Intel.  Need to do this again.

https://community.intel.com/t5/Media-Intel-oneAPI-Video/Potential-Skylake-HEVC-encoding-showstopper-Interlaced-content/td-p/1067972

Example:

ffmpeg -loglevel error -hwaccel qsv -codec:v h264_qsv -i in1.ts -codec:v h264_qsv -flags +ilme+ildct -top 1 -r:v 30000/1001 -y output_int.mp4
[h264_qsv @ 0000014bdf934880] Current picture structure is unsupported
[h264_qsv @ 0000014bdf934880] some encoding parameters are not supported by the QSV runtime. Please double check the input parameters.
Error initializing output stream 0:0 -- Error while opening encoder for output stream #0:0 - maybe incorrect parameters such as bit_rate, rate, width or height

Specifically, the "+ildct" option no longer works, and the transcode output is progressive (de-interlaced), however should be interlaced (verified to work correctly on DG1 and UHD 630).

This appears to be a (media?) driver regression.

We are evaluating Arc products including Flex 140 and Arc Pro for broadcast production use, and this is a showstopper for us, we can't use this like this.  Please fix this ASAP.

Hi,

We regret to inform you that, currently there is no support to Encode Interlaced video to h.264(AVC) on DG2 and this might be planned to feature in the long term. Could you please let us know if you need any further information on this.

Thanks,

Remya Premdas

Yes, I'd like to know if interlacing is a planned feature in a future update.

Hi,

Appreciate your interest. As mentioned earlier currently, we don't have an ETA for this feature on DG2s. Your request will be kept on record in our database. We will continue to review this request and all other feature requests each year during planning for the next major release of the product. Your feedback and suggestions are important to us. Thank you for sending us this request to improve our product.

Could you please confirm whether we can go ahead and close this thread?
