Hi,
We are planning to use Intel® Pentium® Processor N3700 based NUC for our development. It has Gen 8, Intel® HD Graphics unit.
One of our mandatory requirement is to support composition, overlay and VPP filters in GPU/HW.
We are planning to use Intel Media SDK VPP component in HW mode for the same.
Can anybody from Intel confirm if above mentioned VPP operations are supported completely in HW/GPU for this N3700 processor?
Also, in future our final deployment will happen on Gen 9 GPU based processor. So we believe it is safe to assume that if above operations are supported in Gen 8 GPU then they should be supported on Gen 9 as well. Please confirm.
Also, to achieve the same if any update in GPU drivers/libva library is needed, please let us know.
Since we need to order this N3700 based development platform, a quick response from anybody from Intel will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Satyajit

Hi Satyajit,
Let me answer you questions one by one, so we do not miss any.
Can anybody from Intel confirm if above mentioned VPP operations are supported completely in HW/GPU for this N3700 processor? -> VPP HW support is provided via our graphics feature Intel® quick sync video, where Intel® Pentium® Processor N3700 (http://ark.intel.com/products/87261/Intel-Pentium-Processor-N3700-2M-Cache-up-to-2_40-GHz) supports Intel® quick sync video. You can verify on above link under Graphics specifications tab. Hence the VPP operations are supported in HW/GPU for this processor.
So we believe it is safe to assume that if above operations are supported in Gen 8 GPU then they should be supported on Gen 9 as well. Please confirm.->Yes, we maintain a backward compatibility with our HW support and all the features/operations supported on Gen8 are supported on Gen9 along with additional features and can expect performance improvement.
Also, to achieve the same if any update in GPU drivers/libva library is needed, please let us know.-> We recommend using latest drivers available on https://downloadcenter.intel.com/. You can download and update to latest drivers from the link.
Let us know if you have any further questions on mediasdk forum here: https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/intel-media-sdk. It will be easier for us to track and respond.
Thanks,
