IMSDK / Quick Sync with virtual machines

Has anyone had any success using the IMSDK inside a virtual machine with MFX_IMPL_HARDWARE?

I understand some virtualization packages offer a feature called GPU pass through which might make this possible.

Has anyone looked into this significantly enough to say this is not really doable today, or maybe someone has got it working?

Hi Cameron,

Intel Media SDK can currently not be used in virtualized environments.  Proper virtualization requires specific graphics driver features which are currently not available.   It's being explored as a potential future feature.

If you learn of any "hacked GPU pass through" solutions please share on this forum.
