13700KF (0x12B) Voltage: Intel Default vs Gigabyte Optimization, (B760M, Gaming DDR4)

I have never had any issues nor BSOD with my 13700KF working on Gigabyte Optimization Profile with B760M motherboard. System was/is stable and I do not UV nor OC.

The latest BIOS - F19 with 0x12B. I have never used any Beta BIOS.

RAM: 2x16GB, DDR4, 3000MHz/Gear1

Water cooling, AIO 240

RTX 4070

With Gigabyte Optimization, voltage was and still is ca. 1,09 V in BIOS, reaching max 1,35...1,39 V during normal usage and benchmarks.

With Intel Default "Performance" profile (only Intel Default profile available), idle voltage in BIOS is ca. 1,12 V, reaching max 1,38...1,47 V during normal daily usage.

Benchmarks give me more less the same results for Gigabyte Optimization and Intel Default "Performance" and CPU reaching P-cores: 5,3/5,4Ghz, E-cores: 4,2GHz.

Why shall I use Intel Default then?

PS. HWInfo64 and Gigabyte Center info. for both profiles:

Gigabyte Optimization:

IA Domain Loadline (AC/DC): 0.700 / 0.900 mOhm

Loadline Calibration: "Medium" in Gigabyte Control Center

GT Domain Loadline (AC/DC): 4.000 / 4.000 mOhm

Over-current protection: Extreme

Intel Default "Performance":

IA Domain Loadline (AC/DC): 1.000 / 1.000 mOhm

Loadline Calibration: "Standard" in Gigabyte Control Center

GT Domain Loadline (AC/DC): 4.000 / 4.000 mOhm

Over-current protection: Extreme

For some reasons, Gigabyte Max Turbo profile (the most aggressive profile, I guess) was and still is greyed out for my motherboard, so not possible to activate for all versions of BIOS. It says, profile is dedicated for AIO 360 cooling but how system would recognize type of cooling system installed? Never mind.

I suspect, but I might be wrong, Core i7 CPU did not have any voltage issues with Gigabyte B760 DDR4, as Gigabyte Optimization profile already limited voltage level. Maybe Z790 - with aggressive profiles - was the reason of elevated voltage for this CPU, who knows...

Hello Tommy1980,

Thank you for sharing detailed information about your setup and experiences. It's great to hear that your system has been stable and performing well with the Gigabyte Optimization Profile.

Intel recommends adhering to the Intel Default Settings because these profiles are developed based on extensive design, validation, and testing to ensure compatibility, reliability, and performance under a wide range of conditions. These specification are shared with all our partners to establish a baseline that meets Intel's standards for safe and optimal operation.

Using the Intel Default Settings helps ensure consistent operation, particularly when troubleshooting, or seeking support, as these settings reflect the configuration we have validated for peak efficiency and stability.

Now, regarding the GIGABYTE PerfDrive technology suite, it is best to inquire with GIGABYTE for more detailed information.

If you have further questions, kindly let me know.

I look forward to your response!

Best Regards,
