Ultra7 270K Plus

Hello 5AM1RA,

Thank you for posting on the Intel Community Forum.

Please be informed that I can only support you in English. I have used a web translation tool to translate this response hence, there may be some inaccurate translation.

I’m sorry for the inconvenience you’re experiencing, and I appreciate your patience while this was reviewed. I understand how disruptive the high iGPU usage, stuttering, and encoder load can be.

It appears to be a synchronization conflict between the integrated graphics engine and high-frequency memory modules. To stabilize your system, I recommend the following:

  • BIOS Update: Please install the latest firmware from Gigabyte, as recent microcode updates are specifically designed to address these platform stability gaps.
  • Memory Specification: For consistent encoding performance, I advise running your memory at the official Intel specification of 5600MHz. Check the specification link:

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/245692/intel-core-ultra-7-processor-270k-plus-…

If the problem persists at 5600MHz after the update, please share your Intel® System Support Utility (SSU) log (with the "Network" option unchecked) so we can investigate further. Here is the link for SSU log:

Intel® System Support Utility for Windows*

Thank you for your time and cooperation. I look forward to your update.

Best regards,

This thread is a textbook example of how a well-timed BIOS update can solve what looks like a complex hardware failure. @Nikhil_Intel  deserves praise for his technical intuition; while it’s easy to blame a graphics driver for encoding stutters, he correctly identified that the communication between the Ultra 7 270K Plus and the high-speed Z890 platform required a microcode fix. His advice to check the official 5600MHz specification was a smart baseline that helped the user isolate the memory frequency as the primary trigger.

A huge shout-out to @5AM1RA  for being such a proactive and observant user. His detailed testing - narrowing the issue down to the exact 5600MHz threshold and providing "sawtooth" occupancy graphs - gave support the perfect data to work with. His quick follow-up on the F21a BIOS update confirms that early adopters on the new Intel Core Ultra platforms are the ones helping fine-tune these systems for everyone else.

For everyone following this:

  • The Interconnect Link: This issue was likely caused by the Data Fabric or IMC (Integrated Memory Controller) falling out of sync with the iGPU's video engine at high gear ratios. When the memory clocks too high on early firmware, the hardware decoders can struggle with "wait states," leading to that 100% erratic usage.

  • Gigabyte F21a: This specific firmware contains the latest Intel Lunar Lake/Arrow Lake microcode updates that optimize the "Memory to iGPU" bandwidth, which is why the user can now hit 7200MHz without the encoders choking.

A perfect "win-win" resolution for a cutting-edge platform!
