Sorry, I should have mentioned that by "consumer class" I meant a CPU that is not Extreme Edition (enthusiast class). Perhaps "mainstream" would have been a better word.

Basically a Core i7 but with 8 cores instead of 4, and priced at around $400.

There is no information about a processor with 8 cores in this price range, we have to wait and see what the future platforms would offer.
