About the relation between the number of Multi-Format Codec Engines and their performance

Hello!

As we know that all the new Intel processors  have their Multi-Format Codec Engines, which could fasten the speed of preview in Adobe Premiere Pro. I wonder that whether there is any difference if there is only one group of Multi-Format Codec Engines in one particular processor. For example, i7-13650HX has only one group of Multi-Format Codec Engines. Is it weaker in Pr than processors which have two groups of Multi-Format Codec Engines, like i7-13700HX? And how it will make a difference? The same problem also exist in my choice between i5-12400 and i5-12500. Hope to get a reasonable and detailed response. Thank you!

Sincerely Yours,

Zion Chen

Hello ZionChen,

Thanks for your patience. I would like to let you know that having 2 Multi-format codecs as the other ones that have 1 will have a little improvement in performance, In simple words Multi-Format Codec Engines help with parallel decoding or encoding.

For example, when you play high-resolution videos/stream/code, it will exhaust engine 1, If you play another high-quality video at the same time, engine 2 will handle the task without disturbing the engine, for "single videos" it shouldn't have much difference, nevertheless should perform a little bit better.

If you have any other questions, just let me know.
