Also experiencing NPU driver installation produces error code 1000

Hello,

A few days ago I tried installing the newest NPU driver for my pc, and when the installation was complete, the installer said it was successful, but after I restarted my PC and reopened Intel Driver and Support Assistant, it says error code 1000 and that the installation has failed.

My PC specs are

Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 265KF

Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080

Windows 11 Pro 64 Bit

32 GB RAM

I am using the Edge Browser, and all my adblocker addons are disabled.

I am using the built in windows security, and there are no indications that it has blocked anything.

Intel Driver and Support Assistant is version 25.3.24.7

I do not know what happened, or if something changed, but when I opened the Intel Driver and Support Assistant today, it said I had no more updates necessary, and that the driver was installed correctly. No idea what changed, but I do not have any more issues :/. Very odd. I will keep this thread bookmarked in case I have any issues in the future. Odd.

Hello FeistySnacks,

Thank you for posting in Intel Communities.

To get a better understanding of the issue and be able to provide an effective recommendation, please provide the missing key information here:

  1. Do you have any proxy settings?
  2. Do have any pending Windows Update?

Additionally, I highly appreciate you sharing your system configuration so I can fully check and provide you with an accurate fix. This could be possible by downloading the Intel® System Support Utility for Windows* software. When the download is complete, launch SSU.exe.

  • Scan: Check the box Everything.
  • Click Scan.
  • Review: When finished scanning, click Next.
  • Click Save. *Attach the SSU log file as you reply.

I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

JeanetteC.

I have no proxy settings setup

And my pc is up to date; no windows updates are pending.

Attached are the SSU scan results.

The Intel NPU driver and the latest Intel Arc & Iris Xe Graphics drivers all install properly.  I would recommend that Intel modify or update the "Driver & Support Assistant" app and add a button to clear the Install history. The install history is showing failed installations of older drivers alongside a yellow triangle icons, which conflicts with the heading "Your Intel drivers and software are up to date."  This is confusing people as the newer drivers are working properly. You can remove the install history manually by following the instructions given by Copilot

a. running Win+R -> services.msc -> stop Intel Driver & Support Assistant

b. cd C:\ProgramData\Intel\DSA\Data

c. delete history file named install-history.json file

d. restart  Intel Driver & Support Assistant

e. relaunch the Tray app

A much better solution would be add a button to clear, or maybe hide,  the install history after a successful install of newer drivers - or the reinstall of a driver that then works properly.

Hello FeistySnacks,

Thank you for the update. That is quite odd, but I’m glad to hear the issue seems to have resolved itself, even if the cause isn’t entirely clear. Sometimes, background system processes or delayed updates can unexpectedly align and fix things behind the scenes. Feel free to keep this thread bookmarked, and don’t hesitate to reach out if anything unusual comes up again. We’re always here to help if needed.

Wishing you smooth performance moving forward.
