Hi, so I've been having BSOD problems and I don't know what to do now... Here's my setup :
Asrock Z790 PRO RS
Intel i9-14900KF
4 x 32 GB ram DDR5
AMD RX 6800
When I got my CPU in December 2024, I updated the microcode right away (it was 0x12B at the time). I got a BSOD once every 2 months, but recently, I've been getting them more and more to a point when my pc was just in a constant loop of BSOD while booting. The BSOD happened really randomly, like I could play a heavy game of a couple of hours with no trouble, but when I would watch a youtube video, I got a BSOD (that went into a loop of BSOD). The error messages I usually get are the following :
- kmode exception not handled
- attempted execute of noexecute memory
- page in nonpaged area
- systeme thread exception not handled
So far, I've tried the following :
- Remove each ram sticks and try booting with only one or two. Sometimes it worked and other times not.
- I swapped every ram of stick to test each of them. Again, some worked and others not, but it was random.
- I did multiple passes of memtest86 and got no error at all.
- Scan my SSDs with crystaldisk and they're all in good condition.
- Disable C-states and reinstalled Windows 11. Since, the BSOD seemed to be while low cpu usage, I tried disabling C-states, but since I reinstalled windows at the same time, I don't know which one worked, but it had fixed my issue.
As I said, after the last point, the issue was fixed. So after a couple of days without any BSOD, I added back the 2 sticks of ram I had removed. It worked fine for a couple of days, so I enabled back C-States and after a couple of hours, my PC restarted while I was away (when I came back, my apps were closed and I had two mini dump files).
After that, I noticed that a new version of the microcode was available (0x12F) that seemed to be able to fix the issues I had, so I installed it. After that, I left my pc on all night and got no problem. I left it on all day, played some games and left it idle a couple of hours without issue. However, tonight, my whole pc froze (except my mouse) while playing a game and when I tried manually restarted my PC, I got two BSODs back to back and my pc was not able to boot into windows (it kept restarting).
I just tried lowering my ram frequency (from 4000 to 3800 MHz) and I got a BSOD, but it eventually booted into Windows.
Here I am now. I don't know what to try anymore and I'm so tired of trying to fix this. Can anyone help me? If it keeps crashing, I'll remove the CPU to check if there's any burn marks (but I doubt it since I made the microcode update right away when I got the CPU (new)).
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi franky7103,
Thank you for contacting Intel support regarding the BSOD issues you're experiencing with your Intel i9-14900KF processor. I completely understand how frustrating and exhausting this situation must be for you, especially after trying so many troubleshooting steps over several months.
I can see you've been very thorough in your approach updating microcode immediately, testing RAM configurations, running memtest86, checking storage health, disabling C-states, and even reinstalling Windows. The intermittent nature of these crashes and the various error messages you're encountering suggest we need to take a comprehensive look at your system.
Given the complexity of your situation and the sensitive nature of CPU stability issues, I'd like to continue our troubleshooting through private email communication where I can provide more personalized assistance and potentially request additional diagnostic information.
Would it be okay to proceed with our correspondence via private email? I'm committed to helping you resolve this issue. Please let me know if you're comfortable proceeding via private email, and I'll send you detailed next steps shortly.
Best regards,
Dean R.
