CPU cores utilization or usage

hello there... i'd like to know why CPU cores utilization or usage is different and is not equal.... for example why one core is 15% and the next is 5%?

The difference in utilization across cores depends on the following:

• Different applications will make use of more or less CPU than others.
• The operating system determines how the applications are assigned to CPU cores.
• Applications may or may not take advantage of multiple core architecture; this depends on whether or not they were programmed to do so.

But please explain more if it's possible for you.

I'd like to know in processing time if we look at performance tab in task manager, it shows cores usage in different percent. For example one is 15% and at the same tine the other core usage is different.

my last question is what does the CPU do when it is free and no application is running?

It depends on the operating system power management settings but it is expected the processor clock speed will drop down when inactive, in order to save power.
