CPU speed is incorrect!! (E8500)

Hi all.

I currently have windows Vista 64 and Windows 7 x64. I use Intel E8500 @ 3.16GHz (not OC and never did).

At one point of installing vista I saw that the properties window shows that one core is at 3.0Ghz while the other is at 3.16GHz. I installed Windows 7 and I see the same issue again. I downloaded windows 7 tools and it also shows that my core clock is at 3.0GHz for one core.

What gives?

Your motherboard might not support the .5 multiplier for 9.5 check for a BIOS update.
