Concerns About Potential High Voltage Damage in Intel 13th and 14th Gen Processors: Seeking Guidance

I have come across discussions on platforms like YouTube and other social media regarding issues with Intel i7 13th and 14th generation processors, as well as i9 13th and 14th generation processors, experiencing damage due to high voltage. I am using an Intel i7 13650 HX in my Dell G15 5530 laptop and have heard about a microcode update expected in August. Given my limited technical knowledge on this matter, I am hesitant to use my laptop. I noticed that some people are applying undervolting to their processors, but I do not possess the technical skills to do so.

My questions are as follows:

  1. Is there any risk or harm in using my processor as it is?
  2. Is a microcode update indeed forthcoming, and if so, how can I implement this update?

I contacted Dell technical support, and they informed me that Intel has not disclosed any such issue with their laptop processors.

For more details, please refer to this link: Intel Community - July 2024 Update on Instability Reports on Intel Core 13th and 14th Generation Processors.

For further assurance, they have directed me to contact you.

I would appreciate any guidance you can provide.

Thank you.

According to reports, the most impacted units are K processors, primarily those that are boxed. Consequently, mobile and laptop processors, which are manufactured by OEMs rather than Intel, should not be affected. Nonetheless, ensure your BIOS is up to date and set to default settings.
