Do you think is possible to upgrade from Core i7-2960XM to Core i7-3940XM

Maybe, but you will need to ask your system/motherboard manufacturer if the i7-3940XM is supported by THEIR bios.

Those ones won’t reply specifically and even if they do, they probably would say no because they would rather want to stay on a safe lane. Instead they will prescribe some that are not really worth the expenses and upgrade but surely are within the household.

Sorry, you need the answer from the bios manufacturer, which is not intel.   And, even if you did replace the processor, if not supported by the bios you might have problems, or crashes, or no boot at all.

 

Your choice.

If you are going to go to that extreme (which is almost *never* successful, BTW), why not just purchase something more modern instead of futzing around trying to make a miniscule upgrade to something this old?
