Difference between planned release driver and public release ones

Hello, since my previous post was closed, I need to create a new one here regarding the severe lag issue when opening the "Performance" Tab in Task Manager on Core Ultra 9 275HX.

Re:Severe Lag When Opening the “Performance” Tab in Task Manager on Core Ultra 9 275HX - Intel Community

After consulting with my laptop manufacturer and posting the same question on their forum, I confirmed that this issue could only be resolved with the planned release driver, version 32.0.101.6629. I downloaded and installed this version from my manufacturer's website after completely uninstalling the newest version using DDU, and it worked. However that means I can't enjoy the updates from the newer version driver despite I search not only Mechrevo but also other manufacturers which provided the laptops with the same CPU like Asus,MSI or Lenovo, which they also just provide planned release driver 32.0.101.6629,and no updates.

This leads me to a couple of questions:

What's the difference between planned release drivers and public release ones, since I can't download the planned release version from Intel's website?

Is there a possibility that Intel will fix this lag issue in a future public release driver?

Hello SBoy2007,

Thank you for sharing the details about the lag issue when opening the “Performance” tab in Task Manager on your Core Ultra 9 275HX laptop. I completely understand how frustrating this must be, especially since you’re having to rely on older driver versions and can’t access the newer updates.

'

I also had a look at your other case thread, and I see that we previously suggested contacting Microsoft and your OEM support.

To provide you with a more detailed and accurate answer to your questions, I’ll need a little time to coordinate this internally.

I really appreciate your patience while I work on this, and I’ll make sure to get back to you as soon as I have an update.

Best regards

Hello SBoy2007,

I wanted to follow up regarding Intel drivers:

  • Planned release drivers are OEM-specific and customized for your device.
  • Public release drivers are Intel’s generic versions, available on Intel’s website, but may not include OEM-specific optimizations.

We recommend using the drivers provided by your device manufacturer to ensure the best performance and compatibility. Using Intel’s generic drivers on an OEM device may override these optimizations.

If you have any questions or need guidance, feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your prompt response.

While I appreciate your suggestion to use the graphics drivers provided by the manufacturer, frankly, we both know that no laptop manufacturer can provide Intel integrated graphics drivers entirely on their own without assistance from Intel.

Given that major laptop vendors like Asus and Lenovo haven't provided updated drivers, I can only assume that Intel has not been following up on pre-release driver updates specifically for mobile/laptop products.

I would appreciate your response regarding the points mentioned above.

Thank you.

Hello SBoy2007,

Thank you for your feedback!

You’re right laptop makers rely on Intel for integrated graphics drivers, and we understand it can be frustrating when updates aren’t available immediately. Intel works closely with manufacturers to ensure drivers are safe and compatible, but sometimes updates take a little longer because each laptop needs careful testing.

We really appreciate your patience. In the meantime, it’s a good idea to check both Intel’s driver page and your laptop manufacturer’s support site for any new updates.

As this issue needs to be coordinated with the OEM, I will proceed with closing this thread.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards
