Difficult to remove dust on a CPU fan

About a year and a bit ago http://natalian.org/archives/2009/08/21/Building_a_PC/ I bought a Intel Nehalem i7 920 S1366 2.66GHz Mfr# : BX80601920 and it's http://www.flickr.com/photos/hendry/5299357175/ now quite seriously clogged with dust. The fan itself seems to fragile to clean, since the dust is so sticky. Should I just replace the fan?

Have you tried a can of compressed air? A blower?
