Do dual xeon x5690 need to match to work properly

Was trying to see if I put 2 different intel xeon x5690s on the same board would it have a negative impact on performance etc.

Hello Techdreamer,

The stepping code must match for full compatibility. It's possible that some motherboards can allow different stepping codes, but Intel recommends the same stepping codes in order to ensure the functionality of the components.
