I recently received an Intel Core i9-14900ks and have been experiencing BSODS, game crashes, browser/tab crashes for Google Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. Typically saying ACCESS VIOLATION ERROR. I read that Microsoft has started shipping Build 26100.x as the default even through the official Media Creation Tool, especially for 14th Gen Intel CPUs like my i9-14900KS, and systems with newer boards like Z790. Is this true?
Some examples of error messages/issues I have gotten/had
- ACCESS VIOLATION ERROR
- Exception: Access violation. Illegal write by 0x7ff7d19016bc at 0x29714b0cdbc
- Exception: GPU hangs!
- Exception: SEH exception thrown. Exception code: 0xc0000374 at 0x7fff4d6fcba9
- Blue screened a few times
- Low FPS on low/medium/high settings for multiple games
- Fps/Game Stuttering
- Fps drops
- Games crashing
- PC overheats
- Sometimes loud fans when idle, and/or when playing a game
I have made sure all my drivers are up to date, and even did a fresh install of windows. I have read online that these issues could be caused by RAM, GPU, and or CPU problems. However, every stress test that I have done for them have passed with flying colours, except for ONE cpu test I did which stopped after 2 seconds (literally) because it hit 90°C. Does anyone have any suggestions on what is causing this to happen and how to potentially fix it?

Hi @ek26,
Thank you for posting here in our community. To effectively diagnose and address the issue you're experiencing, I kindly ask you to provide detailed responses to the following questions. This information will help us isolate the problem and determine the most appropriate course of action.
- Have you made any software or hardware changes to the system recently?
- Is there any physical damage to the system/processor?
- Have you updated the BIOS to its latest version?
- Did you overclock the processor? Please note that if the system was overclocked, including voltage/frequency beyond the processor supported specifications, your processor voids warranty.
Initial recommendation: If the motherboard BIOS allows, disable Turbo and run the system to see if the instability continues. If the instability ceases with Turbo disabled please let me know.
I look forward to your response and am committed to resolving your issue promptly.
Warm regards,
Randy T.

Hello and sorry for the delayed response.
The computer originally had a i9-14900k in it and I still had similar issues. I got the computer from the company "Maingear". I had been talking with them for awhile and sending them screenshots of crash messages, event viewer logs, etc. and they said that it looked like it was a CPU issue. A few months went by, and they eventually sent me a 14900ks as a replacement and upgrade, so I brought it in to a local computer shop so they could do the part swap for me as I didn't feel comfortable doing it myself. They informed me that the issue had nothing to do with the CPU, and had everything to do with a corrupt version of windows or something, but the issue has now been fixed by them. However, a few weeks after receiving the PC back with the new CPU, the issues came back. However, the BSODs and browsers crashing never happened prior to bringing in my computer. When searching online, I kept finding that it could be do to windows forcing an insider version of windows. Aside from the CPU swap, I did recently get new RAM sticks to see if that would help with anything (as a lot of these issues say they have something to do with accessing memory), and I don't think I have had browser crashes or bluescreened since. I have had some games crash on me a few times, FPS drops, game stutters, as well as my CPU cores going up to +90°C just from launching a game like Fortnite for example. There are times where many of my CPU cores are well above 90°C as well.
As for any physical damage to the system or process, I would say that there isn't any.
I have not done any overclocking to my system that I am aware of. I have enabled XMP to profile 1, and done some of the Intel's recommended settings, as well as things that Maingear has suggested, such as setting my fan speeds to certain things.
